Story Pencil Art

As well as writing, I draw pencil art as well! Many of these are of my story's characters, book covers, and fan art of my favorite stories. Here you'll find -

1 - My hand-drawn book and short story covers

2 - Character portraits

The Silver Hand Book Cover Art

This was the first custom cover art that I drew. The art for Squire of Valana was drawn by my great friend Jonathan Beaujean. At first, I thought about doing a cover art made out of some photoshopping. However, as my pencil art skills grew, I decided differently. I chose to make all my book covers my own hand-drawn as a distinguishing feature of myself. Also, they would better fit what I was thinking.

If you look at the cover of Squire of Valana, you'll notice this background is basically the same. That was intentional. I wanted to pay homage to my friend's work.

Fun Fact - This one was actually partially finished when I started it. The hand, sword, and outline of the head were already drawn from a previous project. I repurposed what was started and made something new.

Wolfram Snow Portrait

Doing this one was different for me as I not only had to do a back view, but I also attempted to draw a sunset. I think it turned out well. Actually, I think this is my favorite portrait that I've done! The colors and Wolfram's foreboding expression all make it awesome.

Matthias Portrait

With this portrait, I started using Hero Forge to help with the drawing. Making the characters and their pose allowed me to visualize what I wanted.

Also, I decided to give Matthias a partial beard with this portrait. I did this because I wanted some variation from the other clean-shaven protagonists.

Zurox Portrait

This was one of the most difficult ones for me. Not because I was trying to properly shade metals for the first time. Instead, it was the eyes. I messed them up at first and only be the end, did I figure out how to fix them.

Also, I really love what I did with the jewels on Zurox's sword. It took some effort, but I managed it!

"Just in Time" Cover Art

This is always how I envisioned Lidia seeing the Antihero. He was huge and larger than life. Oh, and it took at least 30-40 times to get the head right! I'm serious. I drew and erased it many times.

Also, drawing the eye was a new challenge for me as well. I've always had trouble drawing eyes on characters. In this case, I also had to use a coaster to get the pupil perfectly circular. No shame in using tools to help you draw!
